Virtual EQ Café – Curiosity

29th June, 04:00–06:00 pm, West African Time

Curiosity Cafe: What if the real clash isn’t with others—but with the hidden emotional patterns driving us?”

The word conflict comes from the Latin verb confligere, composed of cum (with) and fligere (to strike or clash). It suggests that conflict happens when different forces collide — even within ourselves! In today’s polarized world, these clashes often follow repeating emotional patterns that escalate quickly. Recognizing those patterns is the first step toward breaking the cycle. With emotional intelligence, we can pause, reflect, and choose a different response — one that fosters empathy, connection, and real resolution.
Join this interactive “EQ Café” to explore how emotional intelligence helps us recognize the patterns that fuel conflict — and practice tools to shift the cycle and create space for understanding.
We are blessed to have a global community working towards 1 billion people practicing emotional intelligence. Gathering in community and practicing emotional intelligence supports us, this time in growing our self-management, another one of the foundational pillars of EQ.
Emotional intelligence (aka “EQ”) means being smarter with feelings — and we can grow EQ by practicing together. EQ Cafés are insightful, engaging sessions for people curious about emotional intelligence to connect and learn together.

In this Business Café, we will explore:

  • What is conflict, and why does it feel so charged?
  • How does the Reaction Cycle explain the way we get stuck in conflict — and how can we break free?
  • How can emotional intelligence skills, especially empathy and Recognize Patterns, help us handle conflict more effectively?
EQ Cafés are interactive, informal workshops created by Six Seconds, the global nonprofit supporting a more emotionally intelligent world. I’m a volunteer leader in the network, supporting people to practice emotional intelligence – and we’re especially focused on bringing these skills to future generations. The Cafés are open to anyone.
